Writing About Sports in DFW

I have a new job - freelance sports writer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. This is a big step in my dream to be a full-time staff sports writer in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I'm extremely excited about the opportunity, and although I'm not completely happy with my work on my first story, I keep in mind I'm working out the rust of nearly two years of writing inactivity. And hey - it's soccer...not a forte in my sports repertoire. Let me know in the comments if the story can't be posted and I'll cut and paste it in here.

It's as interesting as an article about people I don't know 1/2 a country away playing a sport I'm not a fan of can be! I especially like the byline!

Seriously, congrats, have you framed it yet? You should! Really, we're quite proud.

Fantastic! Congrats Dude!
Nice to see your name in print again. My high School was known for their soccer team who I trained for, So I know how folks can get about their soccer in Texas. Had some trouble finding the story at first, but I got it.
Keep it up. I look forward to the next one.

You didn't get arrested by the crazyass bar police, did you? Man, Texas has some interesting approaches to law enforcement.

First off, thanks for the well-wishings A&£. I have not printed and framed it, as it's not really my first story - I've written for a few papers this way by now, and it's certainly not a large accomplishment. But, it's a good step in the right direction. So, I'll stick with just the sharing of story with friends, as I did here.

Also, to the second anony-mouse poster who is not A&E, I say thanks as well. I can only guess who you might be, but I will take the good tidings, regardless. I have another assignment coming up next Friday.

FU-D - you're right there. They're nuts about all their sports in Tejas. Not sure where it all comes from, but it works out for me as I'm a bit of a sports nut.

And no, no arrests by the crazyass bar police. Anony-ass. :P I have kept clear of them ever since skipping out o' West Texas.
